Apple Increases Battery Replacement Costs for iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max to $119.99

Apple’s new iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max boast bigger batteries, offering longer runtimes than their predecessors. The top-end model now achieves an impressive 33 hours of video playback, four hours more than the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This enhancement, however, comes with a price – literally. Out-of-warranty battery replacements for these models will now cost $119.99, marking a noticeable uptick from the previous $99.99 fee.

Meanwhile, users of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus can breathe a sigh of relief as battery replacement costs remain unchanged at $99.99. Visit Apple’s iPhone repair and service page, and you’ll see the 20 percent price increase for the Pro models.

Owners with AppleCare+ still have a silver lining: they can get their iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max batteries replaced at no extra charge, provided the battery health dips below 80 percent of its original capacity. Curiously, Apple hasn’t clarified the price hike, but it could be tied to the new internal designs aimed at better heat dissipation.

Earlier this year, an iPhone 16 Pro prototype featuring a battery encased in metal for improved heat management surfaced. Additionally, the standard model’s battery is rumored to have multiple protective layers and a similar metal cover. These changes, coupled with the increased battery capacity in comparison to last year’s iPhone 15 lineup, likely justify the heftier $119.99 out-of-warranty replacement fee.
