Tim Cook addresses Apple Intelligence delay

Apple CEO Tim Cook Addresses Siri Features Delay, Emphasizes Commitment to Quality

Apple recently held its Q2 2025 earnings call, revealing not only robust financial performance but also shedding light on its future strategies. Despite surpassing Wall Street’s expectations, the stock dipped over 3% in after-hours trading. This decline was attributed to delays in AI and Siri enhancements, sparking investor concerns over the company’s direction. During the call, Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, addressed these issues directly.

Cook discussed the delay in introducing advanced, personalized Siri features under the Apple Intelligence initiative. While the earnings call highlighted Apple’s financial successes, the delay in AI integration remains a focal point for investors. Cook assured stakeholders that enhanced Siri capabilities are a priority, acknowledging that development is taking longer than anticipated due to the focus on quality. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering advancements that enhance user experience.

Cook also took the opportunity to showcase recent advancements in iOS 18, such as Genmoji, Image Wand, Clean Up, Writing Tools, and smart integrations including seamless ChatGPT access and AI-driven photo search. These features, now available in multiple regions and languages, demonstrate Apple’s ongoing innovation.

Responding to a query about the delays, Cook reiterated that Apple holds itself to a high quality standard which naturally extends development timelines. CFO Kevan Parekh added that the company continues to make substantial R&D investments, ensuring that the roadmap is fully supported.

Although no specific release date for the personalized Siri features was provided, Apple’s candid acknowledgment of the delay marks a first. The company anticipates the release sometime next year, aiming to meet both investor and consumer expectations.
