Apple is making a bold move to enhance its AI capabilities by collaborating with Foxconn and LCFC, a Lenovo subsidiary, to manufacture custom AI servers powered by Apple Silicon in Taiwan. Choosing Taiwan as a manufacturing hub taps directly into Foxconn’s well-established expertise in AI server production. Currently, Foxconn excels in crafting servers equipped with Nvidia’s cutting-edge H100 and H200 GPUs, and the company is set to start working on servers using the forthcoming Blackwell-based chips. This places Apple at the forefront of AI technology with servers that are designed to manage AI inference, setting them apart from giants like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, who primarily focus on large-scale language model training.
