Samsung appears to be gearing up for the launch of its next-generation Galaxy foldable smartphones, which are expected to bring several improvements while also having some notable limitations. The recent certifications and leaks surrounding the latest Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold series have provided insights into the specifications and features consumers can look forward to.
The new foldables, likely to be named Galaxy Z Flip6 and Galaxy Z Fold6, have been spotted in regulatory listings indicating that they will come packed with advanced connectivity options. Both devices are confirmed to support Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth LE Audio, NFC (Near Field Communication), and support for various 5G bands. These features enhance the devices’ potential for better wireless audio experiences, faster internet speeds, and improved connectivity.
Interestingly, the Galaxy Z Fold6 is expected to include an ultra-wideband (UWB) chip. UWB technology enables precise location tracking, which can be especially useful for features such as Google’s Find My Device, facilitating users in locating their devices more accurately.
When it comes to power, both the Galaxy Z Flip6 and the Galaxy Z Fold6 seem to stick with their predecessors’ charging specifications. According to the documentation, they will maintain a 25 W capability for wired charging and peak at 15 W for wireless charging. Despite these consistent figures, there is a notable improvement in the battery department for the Galaxy Z Flip6, which is rumored to sport a 3,887 mAh battery — representing an 8% increase over the previous model.
However, it’s worth pointing out that neither device will feature Wi-Fi 7 capabilities, a decision that may draw some criticism, especially since other high-end models like the Galaxy S24 Ultra are expected to incorporate this new standard. This limitation means that users won’t be able to take advantage of the latest advancements in Wi-Fi technology that offer even faster speeds and connectivity.
The official unveiling of the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Galaxy Z Fold6 is currently anticipated to be on July 10, during the next Galaxy Unpacked event. Alongside these foldables, there is also buzz about the introduction of the Galaxy Watch FE, which is expected to make an appearance later in the month.
These forthcoming products from Samsung are poised to set the stage for the next wave of foldable technology and wearable devices, aiming to blend sophisticated design with practical tech enhancements. For consumers eagerly awaiting the latest in foldable tech, these new devices are sure to generate significant excitement as their release dates approach.
