Anbernic RG477M Gets Major Update With RG Home, Control Center, and Button Mapping
Anbernic is continuing its steady wave of software upgrades for its retro gaming handheld lineup, and the latest device to receive a major refresh is the Anbernic RG477M. The new update brings several features that recently appeared on the RG477V, giving RG477M owners a cleaner interface, more control options, and a more console-like user experience.
The RG477M update arrives as version 1.32 and introduces Anbernic’s updated software ecosystem. The biggest addition is RG Home, a redesigned launcher built to make navigation faster and more intuitive. Players can move through the interface using either the handheld’s physical buttons or the touchscreen, making it feel more flexible depending on how they prefer to use the device.
RG Home also adds useful organization tools. Users can hide apps, lock apps for privacy, and create folders to keep their library tidy. For players with large game collections, the launcher includes a game-focused interface that sorts titles by platform and category, making it easier to jump into a favorite game without scrolling endlessly through menus.
Another major feature included in the RG477M update is RG Control Center. This new quick-access panel gives users direct control over important system settings, including performance modes, fan speed, wireless connectivity, and RGB lighting. For handheld gaming fans who like to fine-tune their devices, this should make everyday adjustments much easier.
The update also adds RG Button Mapping, a feature designed for players who want more control over their gameplay setup. With button mapping, users can create custom control profiles, save them, and switch between them when needed. This is especially helpful for players who move between different emulators, genres, or games that require unique control layouts.
Alongside the RG477M update, Anbernic has also released a new software update for the RG477V. This update arrives as version 1.39 and focuses mainly on bug fixes and stability improvements.
The RG477V update addresses several known issues, including a joystick problem that could occur when toggling RGB lights on or off. It also fixes a crash that happened when adjusting fan speed from the drop-down menu, as well as an issue where the trigger buttons would sometimes stop responding. In addition, the update adds support for Pegasus frontend ROMs, giving users another option for organizing and launching their game libraries.
Both the RG477M and RG477V updates are available now. Users should be able to install them through the standard over-the-air update process. For those who run into problems with OTA installation, Anbernic has also made manual download options available.
With these latest updates, Anbernic appears to be improving not only device performance but also the overall user experience across its handheld gaming lineup. The addition of RG Home, RG Control Center, and RG Button Mapping makes the RG477M more customizable and easier to use, while the RG477V update helps smooth out bugs that affected daily gameplay. For owners of either device, these updates are worth installing.
