AMD Set to Unveil Radeon RX 7650 GRE at CES 2025

Get ready for some exciting buzz in the world of AMD’s graphics cards! The tech giant is reportedly gearing up to release a brand-new Golden Rabbit Edition (GRE) GPU, possibly continuing the trend of China-exclusive launches. This special edition branding, which emerged in 2022 to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit, seems to have caught on, even though 2024 is set to be the Year of the Snake. It appears that AMD is sticking with the popular GRE name for now, perhaps to maintain consistency for these uniquely limited releases.

The GRE models have previously piqued interest within the Chinese market, starting with the RX 6750 GRE series. These were rolled out exclusively in China as an alternative to the RX 7600, whose stock was limited in the region. Although the RX 7900 GRE first debuted in China, it eventually reached international shelves, though it remains a rare find.

Now, whispers suggest AMD is planning the launch of the RX 7650 GRE, which will expand the company’s mid-range RDNA3 lineup that seems a bit sparse at the moment. This card is anticipated to bridge the gap between the more robust RX 7700 XT, with its 3,456 cores, and the quicker yet similarly spec’d RX 7600 XT, offering 16GB of memory.

The RX 7650 GRE might even echo the dual-variant approach seen with the RX 6750 GRE, which was available in both 12GB and 10GB versions. Thus, we might see multiple configurations for this new model. Pricing predictions suggest it will settle below the $400 mark, featuring a core count between 2,048 and 3,456, along with a memory range of 12GB to 16GB.

Starts in China? Most likely, but don’t count out the potential for a broader release down the road. Stay tuned for official announcements, as the tech world eagerly awaits more details on AMD’s latest addition to their graphics card family!
