Amazon One Medical is making waves in the telehealth arena by unveiling a range of low-cost, upfront treatment plans accompanied by convenient medication delivery for various beauty and lifestyle issues. With this new initiative, customers can access men’s hair loss treatments starting at $16 per month, anti-aging skincare for a mere $10 monthly, and solutions for erectile dysfunction at $19 per month.
Beyond these treatments, Amazon One Medical is also introducing services for issues like motion sickness and eyelash growth. This strategic move places Amazon in direct competition with companies like Hims & Hers, which also provide a variety of health and wellness solutions for a regular monthly fee.
For Prime members, the entire process becomes more transparent. They can view the costs associated with telehealth consultations and medications upfront before proceeding. Fees are straightforward: an on-demand messaging visit is priced at $29, while a video consultation costs $49. Importantly, customers only pay for what they need—the consultation and medication—with no hidden fees or unnecessary subscriptions, aside from having Prime membership.
Once a prescription is given, Prime members enjoy the luxury of having their medication delivered directly to them, sometimes in a matter of hours. This seamless experience is tailored to meet the busy and cost-conscious needs of today’s customers. As stated by Dr. Vin Gupta, Amazon Pharmacy’s chief medical officer, the goal is to ease the challenges faced by patients in the often cumbersome healthcare system, eliminating the long waits at pharmacies and unexpected costs.
This recent expansion is part of Amazon’s broader strategy to enhance its foothold in the healthcare sector. Just a few weeks ago, Amazon Pharmacy announced plans to expand its same-day delivery service to 20 additional U.S. cities in the coming year, with locations like Boston, Dallas, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, and San Diego on the list. More cities will be announced soon.
Amazon’s foray into healthcare began with its acquisition of the primary care tech provider One Medical in 2022. This purchase was a precursor to launching Amazon One Medical in 2023. Their journey into the pharmacy sector kicked off in 2020 after acquiring PillPack in 2018, culminating in the launch of Amazon Pharmacy. In 2022, the introduction of RxPass allowed U.S. Prime members to access as many generic medications as needed for a flat $5 monthly fee, further underscoring Amazon’s commitment to affordable and accessible healthcare solutions.
