Amazon Unveils a Freshly Redesigned Fire TV App Experience

Amazon has begun rolling out a redesigned Fire TV mobile app, giving users far more to do than simply use their phone as a backup remote. With the new update, the Fire TV app becomes a true companion for your TV, letting you browse and discover what to watch directly from your smartphone, manage your watchlist while you’re out and about, and start playing a movie or show on your television straight from the mobile app.

The idea is to make your phone a “second screen” for entertainment discovery. Instead of waiting until you’re sitting in front of the TV to remember a recommendation, you can quickly add a friend’s suggested series to your watchlist from anywhere. When you’re ready to watch, you can use the same app to launch content on your Fire TV, creating a smoother handoff between mobile and the living room.

The updated Fire TV mobile app is currently rolling out to customers in the U.S., Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and the U.K.

This app refresh aligns with Amazon’s newer Fire TV user interface introduced recently, which aims to make content the main focus while keeping navigation simpler. The updated visual style includes rounded corners, softer gradients, consistent typography, and more spacing between content tiles for cleaner browsing. It also provides more room for pinned apps, helping people keep their most-used streaming services easy to reach.

Navigation across Fire TV has also been streamlined. The top bar now groups key sections into straightforward categories with clear icons, including Movies, TV, Live TV, Sports, and News. Search is easier to spot and access, sitting to the left of the Home tab, which can save time when you already know what you want to watch.

Inside each section, Fire TV highlights what you’re already watching and mixes in personalized recommendations from the services you subscribe to, often organized into “For You” rows. You’ll also find a blend of free movies, trending titles, and premium picks that may match your interests, all designed to reduce the time spent hopping between apps.

These updates reflect a growing reality in streaming: with more shows, movies, and live content spread across countless services, it’s harder than ever to keep track of what’s available where. By improving both the Fire TV interface and its mobile companion app, Amazon is positioning Fire TV less as a simple app launcher and more as a central hub for discovering what to watch next—faster, easier, and from anywhere.
