Amazfit T-Rex 3 Launch: Enhanced Display, Improved Battery, Expanded Storage

The Amazfit T-Rex 3 is making waves with its impressive upgrades in crucial areas such as display, storage, and battery life, all while maintaining a competitive price point that undercuts premium options like the Apple Watch Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra.

Catering specifically to adventurers, the Amazfit T-Rex series is known for its military-grade durability and rugged design. With the introduction of the T-Rex 3, Amazfit has now expanded its lineup to five robust models.

One of the most noticeable changes in the T-Rex 3 is its design. While the watch retains the round display found in previous models, it now features a distinctive octagonal stainless steel bezel, adding a unique touch to its industrial aesthetic. The watch keeps its hallmark textured buttons and red markings at the 12 and 6-hour marks.

A standout upgrade is the larger and sharper display. The T-Rex 3 sports a 1.5-inch 480 x 480 AMOLED screen, an increase from the T-Rex Ultra’s 1.39-inch display. The new screen is not only larger but also 100% brighter, achieving an impressive 2000 nits. This display is protected by Gorilla Glass and comes with a glove mode for ease of use in extreme conditions. The watch features 22mm non-quick release straps made from liquid silicone, which is both skin-friendly and antibacterial.

One of the most significant improvements is the storage capacity. The T-Rex 3 offers 32GB of internal storage—eight times more than its predecessor. This provides ample space for offline playlists, maps, and various apps. Combined with the new ZPS3044 processor and 64MB of RAM, the watch ensures a smooth and responsive user experience.

Health and fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the extensive tracking capabilities of the T-Rex 3. It supports all-day heart rate measurement, blood oxygen saturation, stress levels, breathing rate, sleep tracking, and even skin temperature measurement. With Zepp OS 4, the watch also incorporates AI features, including an AI assistant based on Open AI’s GPT-4. There’s a native app for controlling Sonos sound systems, further enhancing the smart experience.

Adventure seekers will find the T-Rex 3 highly capable, with support for up to 170 sports modes and a 10 ATM water resistance rating, allowing for free diving up to 45 meters. The watch boasts advanced positioning features, including a circularly-polarized antenna, dual-band positioning, and a six-satellite system. Fully functional NFC is available in the China and European variants.

The watch is available in Onyx and Lava colors, with optional upcycled straps to match. Thanks to its larger 700mAh battery, the T-Rex 3 offers impressive battery life: up to 13 days in heavy usage mode, 27 days in typical usage, and up to 40 days in battery saver mode. GPS usage spans from 42 hours in accuracy mode to an extraordinary 180 hours in extreme battery saver mode. Despite the bigger battery, charging the watch fully now takes about three hours.

Priced at €299 in Europe, $299 in the US, and ¥1899 in China, the Amazfit T-Rex 3 offers powerful features at a slightly lower cost than the T-Rex Ultra. This new model is available starting today and aims to provide a robust, feature-packed smartwatch experience that appeals to adventurers and tech enthusiasts alike.
