Amazfit Smartwatches Just Got Smarter: Sharper Heart Rate Tracking and a Wave of New Features

Amazfit Active 2 (Round) is getting a fresh over-the-air update packed with tools for runners, endurance athletes, and anyone who wants more control during workouts. Rolling out now as firmware version 6.3.8.3 (OTA 4.1), the release adds screenshot support, advanced running analytics, and smarter heart rate data handling, alongside several quality-of-life improvements.

This update follows the recent Zepp OS 5 rollout, which brought map dragging and tap-to-wake, and continues to refine the experience for fitness-focused users.

What’s new in firmware 6.3.8.3
– Screenshot capture: Take a snapshot of your watch screen by pressing both physical buttons at the same time. Perfect for sharing workout data or saving settings quickly.
– Advanced running metrics: Runners now get vertical oscillation and ground contact time, two pro-grade stats that help analyze form and efficiency. These metrics also recently landed on the T-Rex 3.
– Ultra-marathon sports mode: A dedicated mode for long-distance events helps you go the distance with better tracking tailored for ultra endurance activities.
– Jump rope reminders: Stay on pace and build consistency with prompts designed for jump rope training.
– Smarter workout controls: You can set the watch to unlock automatically when you raise your wrist during exercise, and hardware buttons now work whether the screen is on or off for faster interaction mid-workout.
– Heart rate source indicator: See at a glance whether your heart rate is coming from the watch’s optical sensor or an external Bluetooth chest strap, thanks to new on-screen icons. This is especially helpful if you prefer the precision of an external monitor.

Availability and rollout
The update is currently rolling out in the US, Canada, and China, with a broader global release scheduled to begin on October 10. As with most over-the-air updates, it may arrive in waves.

How to get the update
– Open the Zepp app on your phone and ensure your watch is connected.
– Go to the watch settings and check for updates.
– Keep your watch charged and your phone nearby during installation.

Amazfit Active 2 (Round) continues to offer strong value, and this OTA 4.1 firmware makes it even more compelling for runners and endurance athletes who want deeper metrics, easier controls, and clearer heart rate data management. If you rely on an external Bluetooth heart rate monitor or you’re training for longer events, this update is well worth installing.
