Affordable Model Y Juniper Refresh Rolls Out Boasting Unprecedented Range in RWD Edition

Tesla is making waves with the introduction of the RWD Model Y Juniper, the most budget-friendly option now available for preorder. This move comes shortly after the launch of the premium facelift version, which initially hit the market with a significantly steeper price tag.

In the US, the Model Y Juniper is offered as a luxurious Launch Series for $60,000, complete with advanced features like FSD (Full Self-Driving), upscale wheels, and distinctive badging. Meanwhile, European buyers can now choose the top-of-the-line AWD Long Range version priced at €52,990 in Germany, alongside more affordable RWD versions.

Tesla’s strategy in Europe seems to be shifting, possibly due to sales performance, as they quickly move to offer all Model Y Juniper refresh versions, including the base RWD model. This cost-effective 2026 Model Y trim is set at €44,990, providing an enticing 15% savings compared to the high-end variance. Yet, it is the exclusive Long Range RWD version that captures the most attention, boasting a remarkable 386-mile range, thanks to its larger battery. This version, however, is unlikely to make its way to the US due to battery sourcing requirements tied to federal tax credits.

The Long Range AWD Model Y Juniper also stands out, with a slightly lower yet impressive 364-mile range based on the European WLTP cycle—a measure generally less stringent than US standards. With the same batteries as its predecessor, enhancements in range are achieved through improved aerodynamics and efficiency, rather than increased battery capacity, ensuring the Model Y remains price-accessible for mass-market appeal.

Tesla has now revealed specs and pricing for the RWD Model Y Juniper versions, expanding choices for European customers looking to opt for a less expensive alternative to the AWD trim. However, availability for these models will begin later than their premium peers. Notably, the RWD Long Range variant promises an outstanding range but won’t hit the market until June. It features a powerful rear motor, achieving acceleration from 0-60 mph in just 5.6 seconds despite its large battery.

For those eager to own the most economical Model Y Juniper, which still impresses with a 5.9-second acceleration time, preorders are open. Although it has a smaller battery and a shorter 310-mile range on the WLTP cycle, it offers exceptional value for the price difference. Tesla anticipates the release of this version in the May to June timeframe, while the premium Long Range AWD model is expected to launch in March.
