Achieve a Potential 7% Boost with RTX 5080

NVIDIA has rolled out its latest graphics driver, version 576.02, which is proving to be a major win for users, especially those with RTX GPUs. Originally intended to resolve significant bugs and issues plaguing the RTX series, this update has also brought unexpected boosts in performance.

The GeForce RTX 5080, in particular, has seen substantial improvements. Not only are users experiencing more efficient power consumption, but they’re also noticing impressive enhancements in both synthetic benchmarks and gaming scenarios. Reports are flooding in that the RTX 50 series has significantly benefited in terms of energy use, especially in idle mode. For instance, the RTX 5070, which previously operated at around 180 MHz, now runs at a mere 22 MHz with the new driver. Similarly, the RTX 5060 Ti’s power consumption has dropped in idle mode to an impressive 7W.

Performance boosts for the RTX 5080 have been notable. Users have reported a 4.3% increase in 3DMark Steel Nomad scores, with some even witnessing gains as high as 7.5%. The gaming sector has also reaped the benefits; in Marvel Rivals, the RTX 5080 combined with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D pushed frame rates over 150 fps compared to the previous 140+, marking a 5-7% improvement.

The enhancements don’t stop there. Users of other RTX 50 GPUs have echoed similar sentiments, along with some RTX 40 series holders who have noticed 3-4% performance upticks. It appears that prior driver versions might have unintentionally throttled the GPUs’ capabilities. Additionally, with the new update, some users are finding that higher VRAM clocks are now accessible, further enhancing performance—though this does require manual VRAM overclocking.

In recent weeks, NVIDIA drivers have been the subject of frustration due to various issues, particularly with the RTX 50 series’ hardware. While some hardware concerns persist, this software update seems to be a step in the right direction, offering much-needed fixes and a surge in efficiency and performance.
