Acer Shadow Knight G710 Debuts as a Compact Gaming Tablet With 3K 165Hz Display and 5G
Acer has expanded its tablet lineup with the Shadow Knight G710, a compact gaming-focused Android tablet designed for players who want high-refresh-rate performance in a portable form factor. The new device arrives with an 8.8-inch 3K display, a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chipset, 5G connectivity, and a large battery, positioning it as an interesting option for mobile gaming, cloud gaming, streaming, and everyday entertainment.
The Acer Shadow Knight G710 stands out with its compact size and gaming-inspired design. It weighs around 355 grams and measures under 7mm thick, making it easy to carry while still offering a display large enough for immersive gameplay. Acer is offering the tablet in two color options: Red Eye Silver and Shadow Gray.
One of the biggest highlights is the 8.8-inch LCD screen. The panel features a sharp 3,008 × 1,880 resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio, giving users a crisp viewing experience for games, videos, browsing, and productivity apps. The display has a native 144Hz refresh rate, but Acer also includes an overclocked mode that can push it up to 165Hz. That higher refresh rate should help deliver smoother visuals in supported games and make scrolling feel more fluid.
Powering the Shadow Knight G710 is the MediaTek Dimensity 8300, an 8-core processor built on a 4nm process. It can reach clock speeds of up to 3.35GHz and is paired with a Mali-G615 GPU for graphics performance. While it is not the most powerful mobile chipset available, it should provide solid performance for Android gaming, multitasking, media playback, and daily use.
Acer is offering two memory and storage configurations. The base model includes 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage, while the higher-end version comes with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The use of UFS 4.0 storage should help improve app loading times, file transfers, and overall system responsiveness.
The tablet runs Android 15, giving users access to the latest Android features, security improvements, and app compatibility. For gamers and power users, the combination of Android 15, fast storage, and a high-refresh-rate display could make the Shadow Knight G710 a strong portable entertainment device.
Connectivity is another key advantage of the Acer Shadow Knight G710. Unlike some compact gaming tablets that rely only on Wi-Fi, Acer’s new tablet supports 5G cellular connectivity. This makes it more useful for players who want to game, stream, or browse while traveling or away from a Wi-Fi network. Dual-band Wi-Fi is also included for stable home and office connections.
For cameras, the tablet includes an 8MP front-facing camera for video calls and selfies, along with a 13MP rear camera with autofocus. While camera performance is not usually the main focus of a gaming tablet, the setup should be practical enough for scanning documents, casual photos, and online meetings.
The Shadow Knight G710 also includes dual speakers, which should help create a better experience for gaming and video playback. Acer has fitted the tablet with a 6,300mAh battery, supported by 33W wired charging. The battery capacity should be enough for extended use, though gaming at high refresh rates will likely drain power faster than standard browsing or video playback.
Another notable feature is the inclusion of two USB-C ports. This could be useful for gamers who want to charge the tablet while connecting accessories, although Acer has not detailed the data-transfer speeds for the ports.
In the compact gaming tablet market, the Acer Shadow Knight G710 competes with devices such as the Lenovo Legion Tab series and Xiaomi’s smaller performance tablets. Some rivals may offer stronger processors, but Acer’s advantage comes from its combination of a sharp 3K display, up to 165Hz refresh rate, slim design, 5G support, and dual USB-C ports.
The Acer Shadow Knight G710 is currently available in China. The 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model is priced at 4,099 yuan, which is around $615. The higher-end version with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage costs 4,999 yuan, or roughly $750.
Acer has not yet confirmed whether the Shadow Knight G710 will launch globally. If it reaches more markets, it could attract mobile gamers looking for a premium compact Android gaming tablet with a high-resolution display, fast refresh rate, and built-in 5G connectivity.
