Acer has unveiled an exciting new addition to its line-up with the Chromebook Tab 311, a ChromeOS tablet specifically designed for the educational market. This release marks a departure from Acer’s usual offering of traditional laptop-style Chromebooks, venturing into the more versatile tablet form factor.
The Acer Chromebook Tab 311 boasts a substantial 10.95-inch display with a crisp resolution, complemented by a 60Hz refresh rate. Despite its thicker bezels, it promises a decent visual experience, ideal for classroom environments. Under the hood, the tablet runs on the MediaTek Kompanio 520 processor, introduced in 2022, and comes with options for up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. For those needing extra space, a MicroSD card slot allows for an additional 2TB of storage flexibility.
The device is equipped with a 2MP front camera and a 5MP rear camera with autofocus, ensuring satisfactory performance for video calls and educational assignments. Connectivity is boosted by Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, with optional LTE available for greater on-the-go use. An optional USI 2.0 stylus adds another layer of functionality, although it doesn’t come standard. While it presents a strong case for itself, it enters a competitive market, challenging renowned models such as Lenovo’s Chromebook Duet series. The Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11, for example, features a more robust MediaTek Kompanio 838 processor along with similar RAM and storage specifications, though it comes with a slightly higher price tag at $399, which includes both a keyboard case and stylus.
