Abxylute N9C Gives Your Nintendo Switch 2 a Pocket-Sized GameCube Makeover

Abxylute is doubling down on Nintendo Switch 2 accessories with a newly revealed controller that taps into pure nostalgia. Called the Abxylute N9C, this deck-style controller swaps out the Switch 2’s Joy-Con 2 setup and replaces it with a button layout inspired by the classic Nintendo GameCube controller—right down to the iconic Indigo color option and the familiar multi-colored face buttons.

What makes the Abxylute N9C stand out is its commitment to the GameCube-style layout instead of the standard Switch 2 arrangement. The goal is simple: make the Switch 2 feel like a portable GameCube-style machine for players who love that original controller design, especially for games where that layout feels more natural.

Like Abxylute’s other upcoming Switch 2 deck controllers, the N9C connects via USB-C. It’s built with capacitive joysticks, mechanical micro-switch triggers, and mechanical ABXY buttons for a more clicky, responsive feel. There’s also a dedicated C button intended for voice chat, positioning it as a modern controller with retro inspiration rather than a pure throwback.

Beyond the layout, Abxylute is packing in features players expect from premium third-party controllers. The N9C includes a 9-axis gyroscope for motion control support, a turbo function for rapid inputs, and support for macros and button mapping so users can customize controls to match different playstyles or games. Vibration is also adjustable, with four vibration levels available.

The N9C arrives alongside earlier announced models, the Abxylute N6 and Abxylute N9. These controllers were revealed months ago but still haven’t gone on sale. Abxylute has now indicated that its Switch 2 controller lineup is planned to launch through Kickstarter on February 17. It’s not yet confirmed whether the Abxylute N9—previously mentioned as having an integrated kickstand and display output support—will be part of the same launch, but more details should become clear as the campaign date approaches.

For Switch 2 owners who miss the feel of the GameCube controller, the Abxylute N9C is shaping up to be one of the more interesting third-party options to watch, blending retro ergonomics with modern features like gyro, remapping, and macro support.
