8BitDo Ultimate 3C+ Wireless Controller Debuts as a Budget Gamepad With Adjustable TMR Sticks
8BitDo has introduced the Ultimate 3C+ Wireless Controller, a more affordable entry in its Ultimate 3 lineup that still brings several high-end gaming features to the table. Designed for Windows and Android players, the new controller combines adjustable TMR joysticks, Hall Effect triggers, rear buttons, low-latency wireless performance, and long battery life at a much lower price than the premium models in the series.
One of the standout features of the 8BitDo Ultimate 3C+ is its TMR joystick system with adjustable tension. 8BitDo refers to this as Dual Force Ring, allowing players to fine-tune stick resistance depending on the type of game they are playing. For example, tighter stick tension can feel better for precise aiming in shooters, while lighter tension may be more comfortable for fast-paced action, racing, or casual gameplay.
The controller also includes Hall Effect triggers, which are known for improved durability and smoother input compared to traditional trigger mechanisms. Players can switch the triggers between Hall Effect mode and non-linear trigger behavior, giving them more flexibility based on gameplay needs.
For extra control, the Ultimate 3C+ Wireless Controller features dual back buttons with locks. These rear buttons can be useful for competitive games where quick access to inputs can make a difference. The controller also includes remappable R4 and L4 bumpers, giving users more customization options without needing a more expensive gamepad.
Connectivity is another strong point. The controller supports 2.4GHz wireless, wired USB-C play, and Bluetooth 5.4 for Android devices. The included 2.4GHz USB-A dongle now attaches magnetically to the back of the controller, making it easier to store and harder to lose when traveling or switching between devices.
In 2.4GHz and wired modes, the Ultimate 3C+ offers a 1,000Hz polling rate, which helps deliver faster response times. 8BitDo also includes its 8Speed wireless technology, which is designed to provide a stable 2.4GHz connection with latency as low as 1ms. For players who care about responsiveness, especially in fighting games, shooters, and action titles, this is a major selling point at this price range.
The gamepad also supports turbo functionality, synchronized trigger vibration, and grip vibration. These features help improve immersion while keeping the controller versatile enough for different genres.
Battery life is rated at up to 20 hours when using 2.4GHz wireless mode and up to 32 hours over Bluetooth. The built-in 500mAh battery charges through USB-C, with a full charge taking around two hours.
The 8BitDo Ultimate 3C+ Wireless Controller will be available in three colors: Avocado Green, Frost White, and Stealth Black. It is priced at $39.99, making it far cheaper than the more expensive Ultimate 3 wireless models designed for Xbox. Despite the lower price, buyers still get a USB-C cable, a 2.4GHz adapter, and a DIY cardboard controller stand in the box.
With adjustable TMR sticks, Hall Effect triggers, customizable rear controls, fast wireless performance, and a budget-friendly price, the 8BitDo Ultimate 3C+ could become an appealing choice for PC and Android gamers who want premium-style features without spending close to $100 or more. Its release is scheduled for October 30.
