AIDA64 has unofficially hinted at the anticipated release date for AMD’s Zen 6 CPUs. Both the desktop and mobile versions of these processors are now part of the AIDA64 support list, with expectations that they will hit the market next year.
AMD is actively gearing up for its Zen 6 chips, as evidenced by recent updates like the Zen 6 Linux patch. AIDA64, a well-known hardware monitoring tool, has added preliminary support for these upcoming CPUs, further fueling speculation about their launch timeline.
The AIDA64 Extreme beta version 7.99.7801, as highlighted by reputed sources, includes these CPUs in its support list. Although this version was followed by 7.99.7805 on June 5th, the true confirmation comes from leaked screenshots, which showcase the pre-release details for Zen 6 chips, featuring Medusa Ridge for desktops, Medusa Point for mobiles, and EPYC Venice for servers.
Historically, when a new CPU series appears in the AIDA64 database, it typically indicates a release within the following year. Therefore, consumers can anticipate the arrival of Zen 6 CPUs roughly 10 to 13 months from now.
The Zen 6 desktop processors are likely to continue using the AM5 socket, while the Medusa Point for mobile devices is expected to utilize the larger FP10 socket, a departure from the FP8 used in previous Strix Point models. Notably, the Zen 6 desktop CPUs, known as Medusa Ridge, may introduce up to 12 cores in a single CCD configuration. This means a potential for up to 32 cores in a dual Zen 6C CCD setup, boasting up to 128 MB of L3 cache. This development marks a significant shift from the 8-core CCD structure of current Ryzen models.
In the mobile realm, Medusa Point aims to offer 12 cores through a chiplet-based design, continuing with the RDNA 3.5+ architecture for its integrated graphics, as confirmed in earlier reports.
