YouTube is taking a significant step to support celebrities, athletes, and creators in managing the use of their AI-generated likenesses with an innovative tool developed in collaboration with the Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Set to be tested early next year, this tool will empower well-known personalities to request the removal of unauthorized AI-generated representations of themselves from the platform.
Initially, this tool will be accessible to a select group of celebrity talent, including renowned actors and top athletes from prestigious leagues such as the NBA and NFL. As the tool becomes more refined and widespread, YouTube plans to extend its availability to leading YouTube creators, creative professionals, and prominent partners who represent various talents.
This initiative coincides with YouTube’s recent policy allowing creators and rights holders to flag content that third-party AI companies are permitted to use for training their models. These developments mark YouTube’s commitment to becoming a trusted ally for creative professionals, especially during a time of increasing interest and reliance on generative AI technologies. By introducing such measures, YouTube is demonstrating vigilance and support for intellectual property rights in the digital age.
