Xiaomi’s Next Phone Could Pack a Built-In Cooling Fan and an огромous 8,500mAh Battery

Xiaomi looks set to shake up its performance phone lineup with a new Redmi K90 Ultra, and the biggest rumored change is one that should grab the attention of mobile gamers: an internal cooling fan.

The current Redmi K80 Ultra keeps things fairly straightforward in terms of design, but early leaks suggest the Redmi K90 Ultra (also described as the Redmi K90 Extreme Edition) could borrow a page from dedicated gaming smartphones by integrating active cooling. If this happens, it would be a notable shift for the Redmi K series, which has traditionally focused on flagship-level speed without the more aggressive gaming-hardware approach.

The Redmi K90 Ultra is expected to arrive as the third model in the K90 family, following the Redmi K90 and Redmi K90 Pro Max, which reportedly launched together last October. Beyond the rumored fan, the phone is said to be getting meaningful upgrades in a few key areas that matter for everyday use and sustained performance.

One of the most eye-catching claims involves the battery. Leaker reports point to a capacity jump of at least 15% over the previous generation, with talk of an approximately 8,500 mAh battery. If accurate, that would place the Redmi K90 Ultra among the highest-capacity mainstream smartphones, and it should be especially appealing to users who game heavily, stream video often, or simply want a phone that can go longer without reaching for a charger. The same reports also mention support for 100W wired fast charging, which could help offset the longer time typically associated with charging a larger battery.

On the performance side, Xiaomi is rumored to be preparing the Redmi K90 Ultra around a high-end MediaTek platform, described as a Dimensity 9500 “performance model.” The wording strongly suggests a boosted variant, likely the Dimensity 9500+, rather than a lower-tier version. Combined with the potential built-in fan and mention of a specially tuned performance chip, the goal seems clear: keep peak performance running longer, particularly during extended gaming sessions where heat usually forces phones to throttle.

Other expected features include a high refresh rate display, which has become a must-have for smooth scrolling and responsive gameplay, especially in competitive titles.

As for release timing, there’s no firm date yet. Availability may also be limited at launch, since this model is expected to be China-focused initially. That said, Redmi “Ultra” devices have often been adapted for international markets under different branding, so there’s a good chance a global counterpart could follow later.

If these leaks hold true, the Redmi K90 Ultra could be one of Xiaomi’s most gaming-ready Redmi phones yet, combining a massive battery, very fast charging, flagship-grade MediaTek power, and active cooling designed to keep frame rates stable when the action heats up.
