Xiaomi Unveils Sound 2 Pro: A Sleek Metal-Bodied Hi‑Fi Speaker Built for Big Audio

Xiaomi has expanded its home speaker lineup with the new Xiaomi Sound 2 Pro, a Hi‑Fi-focused model designed to be a more affordable alternative to the Sound 2 Max. Built around a stylish metal enclosure and aimed at listeners who want a more substantial setup than a typical portable Bluetooth speaker, the Sound 2 Pro combines punchy output, multiple input options, and modern wireless connectivity.

Compared with the Sound 2 Max, the Xiaomi Sound 2 Pro uses a simpler driver configuration. Instead of a larger multi-driver arrangement, the Sound 2 Pro features two drivers: a mid-woofer and a tweeter. Xiaomi rates the mid-woofer at 40 W and the tweeter at 20 W, giving the speaker a total output designed for room-filling sound without pushing into the higher peak loudness of the Max model. Xiaomi lists a peak volume of 96.3 dB for the Sound 2 Pro, while the higher-end model reaches up to 101 dB.

Frequency response also differs between the two speakers. The Sound 2 Pro is rated for 53 Hz to 21.7 kHz, while the Sound 2 Max reaches deeper and slightly higher at 47 Hz to 22 kHz. In practical terms, the Sound 2 Max should deliver a bit more low-end extension and overall headroom, but the Sound 2 Pro is positioned to offer strong everyday listening performance at a lower price.

One of the biggest draws is flexibility. Xiaomi includes physical control buttons on the speaker, and it supports both analog and digital wired audio connections. There are RCA inputs for traditional analog sources and a USB Type-C connection for digital audio. On the wireless side, the Xiaomi Sound 2 Pro supports Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi‑Fi 6. Xiaomi also mentions a proprietary transmission option when paired with its Sound Wireless Audio Connector accessory.

For people looking to build a multi-speaker setup, Xiaomi says you can pair up to four Sound 2 Pro units at the same time, offering a path to wider coverage across a room or multiple areas.

The Xiaomi Sound 2 Pro is currently sold in a single color option. Pricing is set at CNY 1,399 (about $201), positioned as a cheaper alternative to the Sound 2 Max with a listed savings of CNY 600. For buyers who want a more elevated placement, Xiaomi is also offering a matching metal floor stand designed specifically for the Sound 2 Pro.

As of now, Xiaomi hasn’t announced broader availability outside its current market, so international launch details and pricing in other regions remain unconfirmed.
