Xiaomi is growing its smart home security lineup again, this time with the new Smart Camera C701 Pro. While the standard Smart Camera C701 has been around for a while, Xiaomi still hasn’t shared international pricing or confirmed global availability for the Pro version. Even so, the feature set makes it clear this model is positioned as a major step up for people who want sharper indoor monitoring, smarter alerts, and better zoom performance.
The biggest upgrade is the dual-sensor camera system. Instead of relying on a single lens, the Smart Camera C701 Pro pairs an 8MP main camera with a 5MP zoom camera. This combination enables 9x hybrid zoom, designed to keep distant subjects clearer and easier to recognize. In practical terms, that means you can check the far side of a room, a hallway, or a sleeping area with more detail than typical indoor cameras that struggle when you try to zoom in.
Xiaomi also redesigned the camera’s movement system. Both sensors sit inside a spherical module that can rotate and tilt up to 180 degrees. With automatic subject tracking, the camera can follow movement on its own, reducing the need to manually adjust its position. Xiaomi says the improved motor rotates faster as well, which should help the camera stay locked on to quick motion—useful for active pets, kids, or anyone moving through the home at speed.
For communication and real-time monitoring, the C701 Pro includes a built-in microphone and speaker, supporting two-way audio. It also brings a stronger focus on AI-powered detection. Along with baby crying detection, the camera can recognize human presence and flag abnormal sounds such as breaking glass. These smarter alerts are aimed at reducing unnecessary notifications while still drawing attention to events that may matter.
Another notable addition is gesture control, which can be used for functions like adjusting the volume during video calls. On the connectivity side, the Smart Camera C701 Pro supports dual-band Wi‑Fi for potentially more stable performance depending on your network setup.
This camera is designed to stay plugged in, as it does not include a built-in battery and requires wired power. For recordings, Xiaomi supports multiple storage methods, including microSD card storage—helpful for users who want local video storage options.
With dual sensors, 9x hybrid zoom, upgraded tracking, and AI-based sound and presence detection, the Xiaomi Smart Camera C701 Pro is shaping up to be a compelling indoor security camera for smart home users who want more than basic monitoring. The remaining question is when it will reach more markets and how Xiaomi will price it outside its initial launch region.
