Xiaomi Teases Imminent Debut of Its Next High-End Luxury Smartwatch

Xiaomi has officially confirmed when its next smartwatch is landing. After teasing the Watch S5 last week, the company has now locked in its launch date for March 19, setting the stage for a new wearable aimed at users who want long battery life, improved health tracking, and tighter integration with Xiaomi’s growing device ecosystem.

One of the biggest talking points is battery performance. Xiaomi says the Watch S5 can deliver up to 21 days of use, positioning it as a strong option for anyone tired of charging their smartwatch every few days. The company also explained that the Watch S5 gets a noticeable boost over the previous generation thanks to a larger 815 mAh battery, translating to around six more days of battery life compared to the Watch S4.

Xiaomi is also leaning heavily into variety and flexibility. The Watch S5 is expected to arrive in multiple styles, and at least one version is planned to include eSIM support. That means users could potentially take calls or stay connected without needing their phone nearby, depending on carrier support and regional availability.

Health tracking is another area Xiaomi says it has upgraded in a meaningful way. According to the company, a new heart rate sensor reaches 98.4% monitoring accuracy. Sleep tracking is getting attention too, with Sleep Algorithm 2.0 claimed to improve accuracy by 11%, aiming to deliver more reliable insights for users who track rest and recovery.

For fitness and outdoor activity tracking, Xiaomi highlights an upgraded dual-band GNSS chip, which it says improves positioning accuracy by 33%. In real-world use, better GNSS performance can help deliver more precise pace, distance, and route tracking during runs, walks, cycling, and other outdoor workouts—especially in areas where GPS signals can be tricky.

A notable addition at launch is vehicle integration. Xiaomi confirms the Watch S5 will support connectivity features tied to the SU7 and YU7 from day one, pointing to deeper cross-device functionality for people already invested in Xiaomi products.

While Xiaomi hasn’t yet confirmed global availability for the Watch S5, there’s reason to expect wider distribution later on. The company already sells earlier models in various regions outside China, including the Watch S3 and both versions of the Watch S4, suggesting the Watch S5 could follow a similar rollout plan.

With a March 19 launch date, upgraded sensors, improved GNSS accuracy, new sleep tracking enhancements, and an ambitious battery life claim, the Xiaomi Watch S5 is shaping up to be one of the more interesting smartwatch releases to watch this month—especially for users who prioritize endurance and ecosystem features over daily charging.
