Xiaomi has unveiled a significant software update for its compact Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered flagship, the Xiaomi 14. This update promises to boost user experience, bring new features, and improve stability for users in regions such as Europe, though it comes with a small caveat.
The Xiaomi 14 stands out as one of the smallest Android smartphones equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC available in the market. It now joins the ranks of the select few devices that are upgraded to Android 15. This update is rolled out under the firmware versions OS1.1.4.0.VNCEUXM and OS1.1.3.0.VNCMIXM for the European and global variants respectively.
While it’s classified as a major upgrade, the changelog primarily addresses bug fixes tackling existing issues within the phone’s user interface, including the lock screen, recent apps, and home screen. These fixes stemmed from problems noted in its previous Experience Enhanced Beta.
Interestingly, this upgrade arrives as HyperOS 1.1 instead of the more recent HyperOS 2.0 skin available in China, which boasts benefits like enhanced user privacy, a smart home hub, and “hardware-level” security improvements. Nonetheless, the Xiaomi 14 is confirmed to receive HyperOS 2.0 eventually, and with this update, users can rest assured that when the major software update arrives, it’ll be based on Android 15.
