WhatsApp has taken a delightful trip down memory lane by introducing an exciting new feature that allows users to spice up their Status updates with brief music clips. This addition brings a nostalgic Myspace vibe to the platform, making your updates more vibrant and engaging.
Much like Instagram’s Stories, WhatsApp Status lets you share fleeting photos, videos, and text that vanish after 24 hours. The new twist? Users can now tap a music note icon to explore a vast library of songs to enhance their updates. You can select a music clip of up to 15 seconds for photos, and a more expansive 60 seconds for videos, letting your personality shine through your choice of tunes.
This musical innovation arrives on the heels of similar updates from WhatsApp’s parent company, Meta, which recently allowed Instagram users to accentuate their profiles, Notes, and posts with music. WhatsApp’s twist on this is unique, however. Your shared music on Status is protected with end-to-end encryption, meaning only your friends can enjoy your song choices—WhatsApp itself cannot peek into your musical tastes.
The feature is being rolled out globally, with users gradually gaining access to this new way to express themselves over the coming weeks. Stay tuned to see when you can start adding a soundtrack to your Status updates and experience a dynamic new way of sharing moments with your friends.
