Vivo X300 Ultra First Look: Early Video Reveals a Zeiss-Powered Zoom Beast Up Close

The first hands-on video of the Vivo X300 Ultra is now out, offering an early look at what could become one of 2026’s most talked-about camera phones. The short preview comes from YouTuber Ben Sin, who appears to be the first international reviewer to share real-world impressions of Vivo’s upcoming Zeiss-branded camera flagship.

While the video doesn’t dive deep into full specifications, that seems intentional. Vivo reportedly restricted detailed spec sharing ahead of the phone’s official rollout, likely because the X300 Ultra isn’t expected to launch in China until later this month. A wider international release is rumored for April 2026, which means Vivo is probably saving the biggest announcements for its formal launch window.

Even with limited details, the most eye-catching feature in the hands-on is clearly the camera zoom system—specifically the optional teleconverter. Ben showcases Vivo’s accessory called the Zeiss Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra, a lens add-on designed to dramatically extend the phone’s telephoto reach. According to the demonstration, the accessory enables a 17x zoom by optically expanding the X300 Ultra’s telephoto lens from 85 mm all the way to 400 mm.

That’s already an enormous leap for a smartphone camera, but Vivo’s approach doesn’t stop there. With the teleconverter attached, the Vivo X300 Ultra can reportedly push to an 800 mm equivalent focal length using in-sensor cropping, while still maintaining image quality that’s described as very usable. If this performance holds up in broader testing, this would place the X300 Ultra in a focal range that current smartphones simply can’t match, especially for distant subjects like wildlife, sports, stage performances, and travel landmarks.

There’s also growing curiosity about what the X300 Ultra can do without the camera kit attached. For now, that part remains a mystery, and it’s unclear whether additional details—or sample photos taken without the teleconverter—will be shared during Mobile World Congress. Until then, this early hands-on video serves as a strong teaser: Vivo is positioning the X300 Ultra as a true zoom-focused flagship built around Zeiss-branded optics and a unique camera accessory ecosystem.
