Understanding the Limitations of Galaxy AI Tools in Voice Recorder’s Interview Mode

With the release of the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung has introduced a suite of new features that take advantage of Galaxy AI, or Advanced Intelligence, capabilities. These innovative tools offer users the ability to transcribe, translate, and summarize audio and text, streamlining workflows and enhancing productivity.

The intelligence-powered features have been integrated into several Samsung apps, including Samsung Internet, Samsung Notes, and the Voice Recorder app. However, users should be aware of an important limitation: the AI tools do not function in Voice Recorder’s Interview Mode.

Opting for Standard Mode to Leverage AI Tools in Voice Recorder

The Voice Recorder app on the Galaxy S24 series comes with two primary recording options:

  • Standard Mode: Utilizes the microphone at the bottom of the phone to record clear, balanced audio. This mode is ideal for capturing audio in various settings such as meetings, lectures, and personal voice memos.
  • Interview Mode: Records sounds from both the top and bottom microphones and eliminates background noise. This mode is specifically designed for one-on-one interviews, even in noisy environments.

Many might assume that the AI functionalities would be supported across both recording modes, but surprisingly, these features are only compatible with audio files created in Standard Mode.

If you intend to transcribe, translate, or summarize your recordings using the Voice Recorder app, you must switch to Standard Mode. To adjust the recording settings to Standard Mode on your Galaxy S24, follow these steps:

Open the Voice Recorder app, tap on the hamburger menu, and then click the cogwheel icon to reach “Voice Recorder settings.” From there, navigate to “Recording mode” and select “Standard.” This will ensure your recordings are compatible with the AI features.

Be mindful of this distinction to fully utilize the advanced intelligence tools provided by Samsung on your Galaxy S24 device, ensuring no valuable content is lost in translation, so to speak.
