TikTok is introducing a new feature that brings in-app guided meditation exercises to help users unwind and improve sleep quality. After trials with select teens earlier this year, the social platform is now rolling out this calming feature to all its users.
The intention behind these guided meditations is to curb those late-night scrolling marathons and encourage a healthier bedtime routine. For teens under 18, this feature will be enabled by default. If they are still using the app after 10 PM, their scrolling will be gently interrupted with a calming session featuring relaxation techniques paired with soothing music. Should they choose to continue using the app, a second prompt will remind them to consider getting some rest.
This initiative is part of TikTok’s broader efforts to enhance teen safety, addressing growing concerns over the app’s impact on younger audiences. The new mediation tools are also seen as a move to satisfy lawmakers’ calls for better user welfare.
For adults interested in meditating before bed, the feature can be activated in the Screen Time settings. Simply toggle on the “sleep hours” option and set your preferred schedule for the nightly meditation.
Additionally, TikTok has announced a donation of $2.3 million in ad credits to support 31 mental health organizations across 19 countries. This contribution is part of their Mental Health Education Fund, underscoring the company’s commitment to fostering mental well-being.
