Initially slated for an August unveiling, the event was delayed by Musk to allow for last-minute aesthetic tweaks and feature enhancements. After much speculation, Tesla has now confirmed the October 10 date, with the event scheduled to occur at the Warner Bros. studio in Los Angeles, CA.
Anticipation surged as Tesla shareholders and influencers shared their invitations to the “We, robot” event on social media platform X. The choice of Warner Bros. studio as the venue indicates that Tesla plans to offer demo rides to attendees in a controlled environment, avoiding the legal complexities of public road testing.
There’s buzz that the event could also mark the announcement and rollout of FSD 13, Tesla’s latest Full Self-Driving software version. This update is expected to introduce automated reverse parking and significantly reduce the number of required interventions per mile driven. However, FSD 13 will still be a supervised version of the automated driving suite, leaving questions about how Tesla will achieve full autonomy with its Robotaxi.
Earlier this month, a prototype Robotaxi was spotted at the Warner Bros. lot, featuring a new front bumper design and some unconventional aesthetics. This sighting has fueled further speculation that the automated vehicle will indeed be showcased on the film set, rather than on public roads.
