Tesla Adjusts Pricing: Canadian Tariffs Spur CA$9,000 Hike, While US Cybertruck Lease Drops and Model 3 Referral Bonuses Surge

Tesla lovers in Canada have been hit with a significant price hike, thanks to recent trade tensions. Prices for Tesla vehicles have climbed by as much as 9,000 Canadian dollars (approximately $6,189 USD) following a hefty 25% tariff imposed by the Trump administration. This tariff prompted a retaliatory move from Canada, forcing Tesla to implement the price increases they had previously warned about back in January.

Take the popular Model 3 Performance, for instance—its new price tag reads $79,990 in Canada, marking a 9% jump from its earlier cost. This suggests that Tesla might be absorbing some of the extra costs brought on by the tariff rise, rather than passing the full burden onto consumers. In contrast, the Model Y has seen a more modest increase of $4,000.

As the automotive industry eagerly anticipates the 2026 Model Y Juniper Launch Series, there’s curiosity about whether its price, currently standing at $84,990, will be adjusted further as the Canadian release approaches.

To spice things up in the market, Tesla has kicked off its promotional activities for the Model 3 and the highly anticipated Cybertruck ahead of time. To drive up sales before the 2026 Model Y hits the streets, Tesla has revamped its referral credit program for the purchase of a new Model 3 from a previous $500 up to a generous $2,500. Moreover, Tesla has slashed lease costs across the board—most notably, the dual-motor Cybertruck lease has dropped from $899 per month to just $749. Meanwhile, the monthly lease for the base Model 3 Long Range RWD has fallen from $299 to $249.

To sweeten the deal, these leases still qualify for the $7,500 federal tax credit. And for fans keen to get their hands on a Cybertruck before March ends, Tesla is offering a complimentary XPEL wrap for orders in both the US and Canada.

For Tesla enthusiasts, this could be the perfect time to take advantage of these exciting offers before the next round of vehicle releases shakes things up even more.
