Tecno Camon 50 Ultra 5G Debuts with MediaTek Power, a Telephoto Lens, and Triple IP Protection

Tecno is expanding its Camon 50 lineup with a new 5G model that blends a sleek, modern look with a surprising focus on toughness and long-term software support. The Tecno Camon 50 Ultra 5G arrives as the more connected sibling to the earlier Camon 50 series devices, bringing upgraded performance, robust protection, and camera hardware that targets people who want strong photography features without stepping into flagship pricing.

One of the first things you’ll notice is the display. The Camon 50 Ultra 5G features a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED screen with a sharp 1.5K resolution and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate, a combination that should appeal to anyone who streams a lot of content, scrolls for hours, or plays fast-paced games. Tecno also adds Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for extra scratch and drop resistance, plus PorXDR eye-care technology designed to improve viewing comfort over long sessions.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra processor, bringing 5G connectivity and the kind of everyday speed most users expect from a modern mid-range smartphone. Buyers will be able to choose between 8GB or 12GB of RAM, while storage is set at 256GB on both versions, giving plenty of space for photos, apps, and videos without immediately requiring an external solution.

Camera performance is a major selling point for the Camon series, and the Camon 50 Ultra 5G leans into that reputation with a versatile triple rear camera setup. The main camera is a 50MP Sony LYT-700C sensor with optical image stabilization and a 1/1.56-inch sensor size, aimed at producing clearer shots in challenging lighting and keeping videos steadier. It’s joined by a 50MP telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom and up to 60x digital zoom for distant subjects. An 8MP ultrawide camera rounds out the rear system for landscapes and group shots. On the front, there’s also a 50MP selfie camera, positioning the device as a strong option for high-resolution self-portraits and video calls.

Tecno is also highlighting durability in a way that’s uncommon for many style-focused phones. The Camon 50 Ultra 5G is certified to MIL-STD-810 standards and includes a triple dust and water resistance rating: IP68, IP69, and IP69K. That suggests it’s built to better handle dust exposure and water resistance demands than many competitors in the same segment. The phone also includes an in-display fingerprint scanner for convenient unlocking.

Battery life is another headline feature. The Camon 50 Ultra 5G packs a large 6500mAh battery, which should help heavy users get through long days with fewer charging breaks. When it’s time to plug in, it supports up to 45W fast charging to shorten downtime.

On the software side, the phone ships with HiOS 16, and Tecno says it will deliver three Android OS upgrades along with five years of security updates, a big plus for anyone who plans to keep their phone for several years. Buyers will also receive 50GB of cloud storage for three years, useful for backing up photos and important files.

Tecno hasn’t shared official pricing or release timing yet, but it has confirmed the Camon 50 Ultra 5G will be available in orange when it launches. For shoppers looking for a mid-range 5G smartphone with a high-refresh AMOLED display, zoom-focused cameras, a huge battery, and strong durability credentials, this is one to keep an eye on.
