Teclast P30T Review: Budget-Friendly Tablet with Modest Performance

When it comes to budget tablets, Teclast P30T offers affordability with reasonable specifications, but its performance may not live up to every user’s expectations. Powered by the Allwinner A523 SoC, which is also found in its sibling the Teclast P26T, the P30T sports eight energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores. However, due to the chip’s older 22 nm fabrication process, the power efficiency is not on par with more modern offerings.

Users might encounter noticeable lags during daily operations, including navigating the menu, and benchmarks reveal that the P30T falls behind the competition in its price range. Despite the budget-friendly nature of the tablet, its graphics performance is notably weak. The eMMC flash storage is sluggish, and the SoC’s memory controller seems to bottleneck the tablet’s speed, resulting in extended load times and a generally slow system response.

The physical warmth of the device during use could be a concern, as tests show the chassis can reach temperatures up to 40.5°C (104.9°F). Although these temperatures are not hazardous, they are certainly perceptible during prolonged use. On the bright side, the tablet seems to maintain consistent performance under sustained workloads, with minimal performance degradation even after repeated benchmark tests.

In terms of audio, the Teclast P30T boasts dual speakers that offer a modest stereo effect. While they can produce a high volume, the sound profile is on the shriller side, with a noticeable absence of bass, making it less than ideal for music enthusiasts. Users seeking quality audio experiences are advised to use Bluetooth or wired headphones, taking advantage of a wide range of supported codecs, including SBC, AAC, and high-resolution options like LDAC and Opus.

The tablet comes equipped with a 6,000 mAh battery, which, due to the inefficient SoC, doesn’t last as long as competitors. During a Wi-Fi test, the Teclast P30T was able to run for just 7 hours and 33 minutes, which pales in comparison to devices like the Lenovo Tab M10 Gen 3 or the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 LTE 2022. Frequent charging is necessary, and users should anticipate more than four hours of charge time to reach full battery capacity.

Overall, while the Teclast P30T is attractively priced and offers certain conveniences, it is best suited for users with modest performance needs or those who intend to use the tablet primarily within reach of a power source.
