PlayStation 5 gamers recently experienced an unexpected surprise when a demo for the much-anticipated action game, Stellar Blade, was mistakenly made available on the PlayStation Store. The demo’s appearance was short-lived, as it was quickly taken down by Sony shortly after its unintended release.
The demo briefly appeared on the PlayStation Store for approximately thirty minutes, allowing a quick handful of PS5 owners to download it before it was delisted. To ensure that the game could not be accessed, Sony released a patch shortly after the removal of the demo, disabling play even for those who managed to download it.
Despite the brief availability, footage from the gameplay made its way onto the internet. Several players posted videos of the Stellar Blade demo on platforms like YouTube, with some even managing to complete the entire demo. The demo showcased about the first one to one and a half hours of the game, and some Twitch users also took the opportunity to stream the gameplay before it was disabled.
It seems that the accidental release of the demo was a genuine error, and as of yet, neither Sony nor Shift Up—the South Korean studio behind the development of Stellar Blade—have provided official comments regarding the situation.
Stellar Blade, an exclusive title for PlayStation 5, showcases the journey of Eve, a young woman tasked with surviving in a dystopian world filled with malevolent entities. The game aligns with the hack-and-slash genre and based on what was seen in the demo, runs at a smooth 60 frames per second, boasting impressive graphics. Fans eagerly awaiting the opportunity to explore this post-apocalyptic narrative can expect Stellar Blade’s official release on April 26.
For those interested in the latest gaming consoles, the Sony PlayStation 5 Slim is available for purchase on platforms like Amazon.
