Starlink Slashes Performance Dish Price by $500 in Anticipation of New Gigabit Model

Starlink has introduced a compelling discount on its rugged Performance dish, slashing the price by $500, bringing it down from $1,499 to $999. This offer, running until July 7 or while supplies last, aims to appeal to enterprise customers as Starlink prepares to phase in a newer, more advanced model.

While the Starlink Mini Kit’s modest price cut might not turn many heads—especially since it’s available on Amazon for a lower price—the 33% reduction on the Performance dish is noteworthy. Starlink likely hopes to clear out remaining inventory to make room for the upgraded version priced at $1,999.

The existing Performance Kit is resilient, designed to withstand vibrations from rocket landings, and promises a 10-year lifespan even under harsh weather conditions. Currently offering speeds up to 400 Mbps, the older model comes with a 2-year warranty. However, the upcoming dish will support gigabit Internet speeds, representing a significant advancement.

This cutting-edge technology is ahead of its time, as Starlink plans to activate the gigabit network with the launch of its V3 satellite generation in 2026. The new satellites are noteworthy for their immense size, akin to a Boeing 737 with solar panels extended. They require the Mars-ready Starship 3 rocket for deployment. These V3 satellites promise a tenfold throughput increase, offering enhanced capabilities and improved latency ideal for gaming.

While the discounted Performance kit doesn’t include a router and may face shipment delays of up to two weeks, businesses eager to capitalize on the $500 savings might find it a worthwhile investment, especially considering the gigabit network’s expected launch in the near future.
