Galaxy S25 Ultra with recently spotted with the Snapdragon 8 Elite running at higher clock speeds

Snapdragon 8 Elite’s Overclocked Cores Fall Short in Galaxy S25 Ultra Benchmark Test

Rumors are swirling around Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 lineup, with industry insiders suggesting that the company may be struggling to improve yields on its advanced 3nm GAA chips. As a result, the flagship Galaxy S25 series might launch exclusively with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Among the lineup, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is anticipated to be the top-tier model. Traditionally, Samsung has been known to use higher clock speeds for their chipsets, and recent benchmark leaks suggest this trend may continue with an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite.

However, despite the overclocked processor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra reportedly failed to surpass the 10,000-point mark in Geekbench 6’s multi-core performance tests. This is despite the chipset running at impressive clock speeds, notably 4.47GHz for its performance cores and 3.53GHz for its efficiency cores. These scores are lower than those achieved by a reference design with the same chipset, which is notable.

It’s worth considering that Samsung might be prioritizing battery life and overall user experience over benchmark scores. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to retain a 5,000mAh battery, similar to previous models, which could be influencing performance decisions. With a focus on longevity, Samsung may be looking to optimize the device’s endurance rather than solely chasing performance numbers.

Interestingly, there’s talk of Samsung offering 12GB of RAM as standard across the S25 lineup, with a special 16GB version available for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, hinting at a range of configuration options for consumers.

While the initial benchmark results may not fully showcase the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s capabilities, the real-world performance tests and user experiences will ultimately determine the impact and success of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. As the launch approaches, fans and tech enthusiasts will be eagerly watching for further developments and more comprehensive reviews. Stay tuned for more updates as the release date nears.
