The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 has made its much-anticipated debut on Geekbench, accompanying Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy S26 Edge. While it retains the same core architecture as its predecessor, notable enhancements in clock speed are evident.
Finally emerging after extensive leaks and speculation, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is showing its potential just weeks before Qualcomm’s official announcement set for late September. This upcoming Samsung flagship, identified as the Galaxy S26 Edge with the codename SM-S947U, is anticipated to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 For Galaxy version.
In Geekbench 6.4 testing, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 scores 3,393 in single-core and 11,515 in multi-core benchmarks. While initial results indicate a modest 10% increase over the Snapdragon 8 Elite, excitement surrounds its unoptimized state. The CPU runs at 4.0 GHz, yet the full potential of 4.74 GHz remains untapped, typical for pre-production samples.
Specifications reveal a familiar 6+2 CPU layout, with E-cores reaching up to 3.63 GHz. The inclusion of the Scalable Matrix Extension (SME) adds to the intrigue. Accompanied by 12 GB of RAM, the Galaxy S26 Edge prototype operates on Android 16, hinting at early developments of One UI 8.0.
This reveals a troubling outlook for Samsung’s Exynos 2600, which lagged in performance even though it appeared first on Geekbench. If the Galaxy S26 Edge indeed embraces the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, it’s likely the rest of the Galaxy S26 series will follow this path—great news for users, though not as much for Samsung Foundry.
