Snapchat Plans brings event planning directly into chats
Snapchat is making it easier for friends to organize real-life meetups with a new feature called Snapchat Plans. The tool is designed to help users create, share, and manage events inside the app, reducing the confusion that often comes from scattered group chat messages and forgotten details.
With Snapchat Plans, users can set up events for all kinds of occasions, including birthday parties, sports games, study groups, weekend outings, casual hangouts, and other in-person gatherings. Instead of relying on separate invitation apps or long message threads, Snapchat now lets users keep the important details in one place.
The new feature allows a user to create a Snapchat Plan by adding an event title, selecting a date and time, and inviting up to 200 friends. Invitations are sent directly through individual chats, making them easy to find and respond to. Invited guests can reply with one of three RSVP options: Going, Maybe, or Can’t Go.
Snapchat is also adding a dedicated My Plans section to user profiles. This area will show current, upcoming, and past events, giving users a simple way to keep track of everything they have planned. When viewing a friend’s profile, users will also be able to see the events they share with that person.
For event hosts, Snapchat Plans includes tools to manage the guest list, invite additional friends, and update event information when plans change. Guests can view who else has been invited, adjust their RSVP at any time, and receive a reminder one hour before the event begins.
The launch of Snapchat Plans shows how the platform is expanding beyond online messaging and photo sharing. Snapchat has long been known as a popular communication app, especially among younger users, but this update pushes the app further into real-world social planning.
The move also reflects a growing interest among Gen Z users in spending more time together offline. Many young people are looking for easier ways to organize in-person experiences without losing key details in fast-moving conversations. Snapchat Plans aims to solve that problem by putting invitations, RSVPs, reminders, and event information inside the app people are already using to stay connected.
Snapchat says the feature is built around private, invite-only events. That means Plans are not public listings and are only visible to the people who are invited.
By adding event planning tools, Snapchat is positioning itself as more than just a messaging platform. It wants to become a place where friendships start online and continue in real life, whether that means planning a birthday dinner, meeting up after class, organizing a game day watch party, or getting friends together for the weekend.
Snapchat Plans could make everyday social organizing faster and less stressful, especially for users who already depend on the app to talk with close friends. Instead of digging through old chats to find a time, address, or guest list, users can now open Snapchat and see the full plan in one place.
