Sekiro: No Defeat — The Highly Anticipated Anime Arrives in 2026

Kadokawa, Crunchyroll, Qzil.la, and ARCH have officially confirmed that the Sekiro: No Defeat anime adaptation is on the way, with its premiere planned for later this year. The project is based on FromSoftware’s acclaimed action game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and it’s shaping up to be a major event for longtime fans of the series as well as newcomers curious about the world of shinobi, war, and survival.

One of the biggest details revealed so far is how and where viewers will be able to watch it. The Sekiro: No Defeat anime will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll worldwide later in 2026. Japan will be the one exception, as the anime is also set to receive a nationwide theatrical release there, giving local audiences a big-screen way to experience the adaptation.

In a move that should reassure game fans hoping for authenticity, the anime will bring back the original voice cast from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, with the same actors reprising their roles. Returning voices often make a huge difference in game-to-anime adaptations, and this decision suggests the production is aiming to preserve the tone, personality, and emotional weight that helped define the original story.

The anime is also set to feature “Blu,” a song by the late Ryuichi Sakamoto, as its theme. The track comes from his The Best of ‘Playing the Orchestra 2014 album, adding a notable and poignant musical touch to the adaptation.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice originally launched on Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, earning recognition for its intense swordplay, demanding combat, and distinctive setting. With Sekiro: No Defeat now confirmed and a new trailer already released, this adaptation is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated game-inspired anime projects on the horizon.
