Schlage Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt Launches June 29 With Hands-Free UWB Unlocking and Matter Support
Schlage is finally bringing its most advanced smart lock to market. After being introduced at CES 2025, the Schlage Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt now has an official release date: June 29, 2026. The premium smart lock will be priced at $399 in the United States and $549 in Canada.
At launch, the Schlage Sense Pro will be available through major online retailers including Amazon, Lowe’s, The Home Depot, and Schlage’s official store. In Canada, shoppers will also be able to find it in physical Home Depot locations.
The biggest highlight of the Schlage Sense Pro is its use of Ultra Wideband technology, which Schlage calls Converge. This feature is designed to make unlocking your front door feel more natural and secure. Instead of relying only on Bluetooth proximity or requiring users to open an app, Ultra Wideband can better understand when someone is approaching the door by measuring movement, speed, and direction.
For compatible iPhone and Apple Watch users, the lock can automatically unlock as they walk up to the door using Apple Home Key. That means no keypad entry, no app launching, and no digging for keys. The goal is a smoother hands-free unlocking experience that feels closer to walking into a car with a digital key.
The Schlage Sense Pro is also designed with Android support in mind. It uses the newer Aliro connectivity standard, which is being developed to improve compatibility between smart locks, smartphones, and digital wallet platforms. Schlage expects the Sense Pro to receive Aliro certification later in 2026.
Once certified, compatible Android users with supported hardware should be able to use hands-free Ultra Wideband unlocking through Samsung Wallet and Google Wallet. Android phones without UWB hardware will still have access to NFC tap-to-unlock, giving users another convenient way to enter without a traditional key.
Smart home compatibility is another major focus. The Sense Pro is Schlage’s first smart lock to support Matter over Thread, a key upgrade for users building a modern connected home. Matter support helps the lock work more easily across different smart home ecosystems, while Thread enables fast, local communication with compatible hubs.
This means the lock can connect directly with devices such as Apple TV 4K or HomePod when used as smart home hubs. For homes without a dedicated hub, Schlage has also included built-in WiFi, allowing users to manage the lock remotely through the Schlage Home app.
Remote access can be especially useful for homeowners who need to let in family members, guests, dog walkers, cleaners, or service professionals while away from home. Users can manage access, check lock status, and control the deadbolt from their phone.
Schlage has also included a practical backup feature for one of the most common smart lock concerns: dead batteries. The exterior side of the lock includes a USB-C jumpstart port, allowing users to connect an external battery pack if the internal batteries run out. This provides a simple emergency power option without needing to remove the lock or rely on a physical key at the wrong moment.
With Ultra Wideband hands-free unlocking, Apple Home Key support, future Android wallet compatibility, Matter over Thread, WiFi access, and a USB-C backup power option, the Schlage Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt is positioned as one of the most feature-rich smart locks arriving in 2026.
At $399, it sits firmly in the premium smart lock category, but its mix of convenience, security, and broad smart home support could make it an attractive choice for users looking to upgrade their front door with the latest connected home technology.
