Samsung has recently expanded its budget 5G smartphone lineup with the introduction of the Galaxy M15 5G, an economical handset with impressive battery life. This device seems to be a modified version of the Galaxy A15 5G launched in late 2023, sharing many similarities in specifications but with key differences to set it apart.
Galaxy M15 5G: Large Battery Capacity Paired with Modest Charging Speed
The Galaxy M15 5G features a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080×2340 pixels. Users can enjoy smooth visuals provided by the 90Hz refresh rate, as well as good visibility under bright conditions with the display’s 800 nits peak brightness and Vision Booster technology.
Photography enthusiasts will find a versatile camera system led by a 50MP main sensor, complemented by a 5MP ultrawide shooter and a 2MP macro camera. For capturing selfies and video calls, there’s a 13MP front-facing camera. Both front and rear camera setups support 1080p video recording.
Samsung has chosen to power this device with the Dimensity 6100+ chipset from MediaTek, an efficient 6nm processor with speeds up to 2.2GHz. Paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, the phone is expected to handle daily tasks with ease. Anticipation is high for additional variants with potentially up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, along with a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
Connectivity options on the Galaxy M15 5G are plentiful with support for dual SIM cards, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and GPS. A USB Type-C 2.0 port is available for charging, and there is also the classic 3.5mm headphone jack. Users can expect a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for enhanced security, conveniently integrated into the power button. Although not confirmed, the device is likely to ship with Android 14 while sporting Samsung’s One UI 6.0 or even the One UI 6.1 overlay.
While most features mirror the previously released Galaxy A15 5G, the Galaxy M15 5G stands out with its large 6,000mAh battery, significantly larger than the A15’s 5,000mAh unit. Despite the increased capacity, the charging speed remains at the moderate rate of 25W. As a result of the bigger battery, the M15 5G is slightly bulkier and heavier, weighing in at 217 grams and measuring 160.1×76.8×9.3 mm. Notably, it does skip Samsung’s Key Island design, which might have been featured in the A-series counterpart.
Market Availability and Price Point Expectations
Shoppers can look forward to getting their hands on the Galaxy M15 5G in three color options: Dark Blue, Light Blue, and Gray. Initially, Samsung has rolled out the device in select Asian markets, explicitly mentioning Iraq and the Levant region. While it seems unlikely to hit the shelves in the US, Samsung might offer the phone in other international markets. Specific details regarding the launch date and pricing are still under wraps, but following the Galaxy A15 5G’s pricing strategy, the new M-series handset may come with a slightly more affordable price tag, potentially falling beneath the $200 mark.
