The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has impressed many with its stunning display capabilities. Its low-reflection screen, coupled with an extraordinary brightness capacity of up to 2,572 nits, allows users to read content even under the sun without any issue. Yet, not all is as perfect as it seems, as recent user feedback suggests a potential flaw in its display.
Barely a year into the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s journey, some users are encountering an unexpected concern. Reports have surfaced about the anti-reflective coating peeling or wearing off, notably around the screen edges. This issue seems more pronounced in places where users frequently touch the display, leaving noticeable marks. Moreover, despite cleaning, some screens show large streaks, hinting at the fragility of the coating which is softer than the glass, making it prone to tiny scratches.
Samsung, at the moment, hasn’t issued a statement regarding this situation, leaving some uncertainty regarding the scope of the problem and the possibility of warranty-based screen replacements. Until further notice, users are encouraged to clean their screens with a gentle microfiber cloth, avoiding any cleaning solutions that might exacerbate the condition.
Opting for a screen protector could be a viable solution, as these can be easily replaced when worn out. However, this comes with a trade-off: the protective films may increase screen reflectiveness, detracting from the original display quality of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
