Samsung CEO: Galaxy S22 series could also get Galaxy AI features

Samsung’s commitment to bringing artificial intelligence (AI) features to its range of smartphones is a clear indicator of the company’s dedication to delivering cutting-edge technology to its customers. The much-anticipated One UI 6.1 update, which is set to debut towards the end of March, is slated to enhance the functionality of several devices, including the Galaxy S23 series and the latest foldable and tablet models.

The inclusion of new Galaxy AI features, first unveiled with the Galaxy S24 lineup, is a testament to Samsung’s innovative spirit. These AI functionalities, such as Circle to Search, Browsing and Note assistants, and Generative AI-supported tools for video and photo editing, add a layer of intelligence and automation to users’ experiences with their Galaxy devices.

One intriguing prospect is the potential expansion of these AI features to older Galaxy models, particularly the Galaxy S22 series. The Galaxy S23 FE, which shares similar technology with its European S22 counterparts, is already confirmed to support Galaxy AI functions. This sets an optimistic precedent for the S22 series to receive similar treatment.

Tae-moon Roh, Samsung Mobile Experience’s CEO, has hinted at ongoing internal testing of the AI features for Galaxy S22 models. This highlights Samsung’s initiative to leverage both cloud-based and on-device AI technology, which must be carefully calibrated in relation to the hardware capabilities of each device.

While the integration of sophisticated AI features into existing models may require considerable resources and effort, Samsung’s approach suggests a gradual plan to extend the benefits of its fully-fledged Galaxy AI experience to a wider range of devices, including last year’s Fold and Flip series. By reviewing the compatibility with previous models, Samsung is opening the door to a more intelligent and intuitive user interface for its customers.

The company’s focus on implementing AI advancements into their product line demonstrates a forward-thinking strategy aimed at improving user satisfaction and staying ahead in the competitive smartphone market. With users eagerly anticipating these updates, Samsung looks set to reinforce its reputation as a leader in innovation within the technology sector.
