Samsung Begins Mass Production of Exynos 2600 Prototype Using Advanced 2nm GAA Technology, Aiming to Boost Yields to 50%

Samsung is making strides in the race for advanced wafer technology, eyeing a chance to outpace its competitor. Initially, the company faced a few bumps on the road in the trial production of its Exynos 2600, initially planned to start in May. However, recent developments have been promising, with the processor entering mass production as Samsung works diligently to boost yields and manage costs effectively.

The Exynos 2600 is expected to roll off the production line roughly 2-3 months ahead of the anticipated launch of the Galaxy S26 series, likely set for February. According to a report by NewDaily, the tech giant’s LSI and foundry divisions are focused on enhancing the performance and yield percentages of this flagship chip. While the company started the year with a 30 percent yield, efforts are underway to hit the 50 percent mark, pushing towards a goal of 70 percent to make mass production economically feasible.

In its first quarter earnings of 2025, Samsung highlighted the crucial need to stabilize its 2nm GAA yields, aiming for full-scale production in the year’s second half. This move is integral as Samsung gears up to attract major clients for its advanced manufacturing process. Speculation has hinted at successful discussions with Qualcomm for the mass production of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 for Galaxy on Samsung’s 2nm technology, though no official confirmation has been made.

As the Exynos 2600 moves through its production phases, Samsung plans to proceed to risk production next. If timelines hold, full manufacturing could kick off just a few months before the Galaxy S26 series hits the market. Although rival TSMC began accepting orders for 2nm wafers in early April, Samsung’s proactive approach might give it a competitive edge, allowing it to attract key clients in its pursuit to dominate the industry.
