RPCS3 Continues to Improve as Another PS3 Game Becomes Fully Playable
RPCS3 has reached another important milestone for PlayStation 3 emulation, with one more PS3 title now officially considered fully playable. The emulator has steadily become one of the most impressive preservation projects in gaming, and its latest progress shows that the team is still pushing hard to improve compatibility across Sony’s famously complex console library.
The newest addition to the RPCS3 “Playable” category is Ubisoft’s MotionSports Adrenaline. Players can now experience the game from start to finish through RPCS3 with solid performance and without major game-breaking problems. For fans of PlayStation 3 motion-control titles, this is especially notable because games that rely on PS Move support can be more difficult to emulate accurately.
RPCS3’s compatibility database separates PS3 games into several categories. “Playable” games can be completed with good performance and no serious issues. “Ingame” titles can run and may allow some gameplay, but still suffer from major bugs or technical problems. Other categories include games that only reach the intro, games that load but show a black screen, and games that do not run at all.
After years of development, RPCS3 can now run more than 78% of the PlayStation 3 library in a fully playable state. That is a major achievement considering the PS3’s Cell processor architecture, which has long been considered one of the biggest challenges in console emulation.
Alongside MotionSports Adrenaline becoming playable, the RPCS3 team also confirmed that The Shoot has moved into the “Ingame” category. While that means the arcade-style shooter still has serious issues, the progress is still significant because The Shoot requires both a PS Move controller and a PlayStation Eye camera.
PS Move games remain one of the more challenging areas for RPCS3. A large portion of the titles still stuck in the “Intro” category are motion-control games, showing just how difficult it can be to accurately emulate the required hardware and tracking behavior. According to the team, work is continuing to improve accuracy, which could eventually help more PS Move titles become playable.
For players who still own a PS Move controller, a PlayStation Eye camera, and a copy of MotionSports Adrenaline, this latest update makes the game worth revisiting through RPCS3. As always, users who encounter bugs or unusual behavior are encouraged to report issues through the emulator’s official support channels so the development team can continue improving compatibility.
With each new update, RPCS3 gets closer to making the PlayStation 3 library more accessible on modern hardware. MotionSports Adrenaline may not be the biggest PS3 release, but its move to the playable list is another clear sign that even more difficult motion-based games are slowly becoming viable through emulation.
