Redmi Turbo 5 Shines in New Official Photos as Launch Nears

Xiaomi has locked in the official launch date for the Redmi Turbo 5 series, and the mid-range lineup is set to debut in China on January 29, 2026. Alongside the announcement, the company also shared official images of the standard (non-Max) Redmi Turbo 5, giving fans a clearer look at what to expect before the full reveal.

At first glance, the Redmi Turbo 5 looks very similar to the Turbo 5 Max. The back keeps the same dual-camera layout and module placement seen on the larger model, creating a familiar, clean design. The most noticeable visual difference is the flash: the standard Turbo 5 appears to use a single flash instead of the dual-flash setup shown on the Max. Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed whether both models share the same camera sensors, so camera specs remain one of the big questions heading into launch day.

One key detail is already official: the Redmi Turbo 5 will run on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset. The Dimensity 8500 was introduced alongside the 9500-series chips, and while early benchmark sightings suggest it may not be a huge leap over the previous Dimensity 8400, real-world testing and post-launch benchmarks will ultimately show how much performance and efficiency have improved. Either way, Xiaomi is clearly positioning the Turbo 5 as a performance-focused mid-range option, which is exactly what the Turbo branding has been building toward.

The official renders also highlight a metal mid-frame, a premium touch that could help the Redmi Turbo 5 stand out in its price segment. On the front, the display is shown with large, rounded corners—an ergonomic design choice that should make the phone feel more comfortable in hand during long use.

Size is another area where the standard model may separate itself from the Max. The non-Max Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to be more compact, with rumors pointing to a roughly 6.59-inch screen, which could appeal to buyers who want a slightly smaller phone without stepping down too far on features.

Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but the previous generation offers a useful clue. The Redmi Turbo 4 launched with a starting price of CNY 1,999, and if Xiaomi follows a similar strategy, the Redmi Turbo 5 could land in a very competitive mid-range bracket once it goes official. With the launch date now confirmed, more specs and official details may surface in the days leading up to the January 29 debut in China.
