Xiaomi is expanding its Redmi K90 lineup with a new model aimed squarely at mobile gamers. After launching the Redmi K90 series in October 2025 with the Redmi K90 and Redmi K90 Pro Max, the company has now officially confirmed a third device: the Redmi K90 Max.
According to details shared by Xiaomi President Lu Weibing, the Redmi K90 Max is being positioned as a gaming-focused flagship phone, and its standout hardware feature is a built-in active cooling fan. Xiaomi says the phone uses an 18.1mm fan paired with a vertical air intake design, delivering up to 1.3x more airflow than other smartphones that rely on similar fan-based cooling. In practical terms, the company claims this cooling system can drop temperatures by as much as 10°C in just 100 seconds during extended gaming sessions, which could help maintain smoother performance and reduce throttling when playing demanding titles.
The Redmi K90 Max is also set to arrive with a 165Hz display, signaling Xiaomi’s intent to compete in the high refresh rate gaming phone space where fast motion clarity and responsiveness matter. On top of that, Xiaomi has confirmed a dual-chip setup, although exact specifications haven’t been revealed yet. For context, the Redmi K90 Pro Max is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but it’s still unclear how Xiaomi will configure the K90 Max to balance performance, efficiency, and gaming features.
To reinforce its gaming-first identity, the Redmi K90 Max will include shoulder buttons for more console-like controls. Xiaomi also mentions additional enhancements focused on touch responsiveness, network stability for competitive play, and improved in-game audio performance.
The Redmi K90 Max is expected to launch in China sometime in April. More details, including full specifications, chipset information, pricing, and availability, should emerge as the launch window gets closer.
