Reddit’s AI Search Learns Five New Languages

Reddit is expanding its AI-powered search to reach more of its global community, rolling out support for five new languages: French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. With this update, the conversational Q&A experience is now available in countries including Brazil, France, Germany, Spain, Mexico, and Italy.

If your account is set to one of these languages, you can now ask questions and chat with Reddit’s AI in a natural, conversational format. The feature is powered by a Google AI model and is designed to surface helpful answers by drawing from the platform’s vast, community-driven knowledge.

Reddit first introduced AI-driven search last year and has steadily broadened what it can do. The experience lives within Reddit Answers, which appears alongside the platform’s traditional search so users can choose between classic results and a Q&A-style response. According to the company, Reddit search serves more than 70 million people each week, and Reddit Answers already has over 6 million users. Leadership has also outlined plans to bring the two search experiences closer together over time.

The move comes as conversational search gains momentum across the web. Since ChatGPT added web search capabilities, Q&A-style interfaces have become a go-to way for people to get fast, context-aware answers. Established search providers and newer entrants alike are investing in chat-based search to improve relevance and keep users engaged.

For Redditors, the multilingual rollout means faster, more intuitive discovery in their preferred language, whether they’re looking for product advice, troubleshooting tips, travel insights, or community-tested recommendations. Set your default language to French, German, Spanish, Italian, or Portuguese to try the AI chat experience in supported regions.
