Red Bull has quietly slipped a genuinely oddball collectible into the gaming world: a limited-edition Red Bull can that actually plays Tetris. Known as the Red Bull Tetris handheld, the mini device was created in collaboration with Tetris and My Arcade as a tribute to the Red Bull Tetris Championships held in Dubai in December 2025.
Only 10,000 units were made, instantly putting it in “rare gaming merch” territory. Around 7,000 were handed out to people attending the Dubai event, while the remaining 3,000 were sold online for €34.99 in late November 2025. The online drop didn’t last long—units sold out within days. Now, resellers are listing the can-shaped handheld for $90 or more on eBay, turning what was once a relatively affordable novelty into a pricey collector’s item.
Part of why this gadget flew under the radar is that the championships themselves were full of headline-grabbing moments. The event featured a massive spectacle: a playable Tetris in the sky built with roughly 2,000 drones above the Dubai Frame. With a stunt like that dominating attention, it’s easy to see how a pocket-sized Tetris “can” could slip past a lot of gamers.
Even so, the handheld is as real as it is ridiculous. It’s shaped like a Red Bull energy drink can and includes a small 1.55-inch screen with simple controls. Two action buttons let you rotate blocks, and the unit is powered by three AA batteries. It’s not trying to replace modern handheld consoles—it’s built for quick, nostalgic Tetris sessions and the pure novelty of playing one of the most famous puzzle games ever made on something that looks like it belongs in a fridge.
To make it even more appealing to collectors, each unit is individually numbered out of 10,000. That detail alone gives it extra display value for retro gaming fans, even if some buyers never plan to play it. For many owners, it’s the kind of conversation-starter collectible you leave on a shelf—part gaming history, part marketing oddity.
People who did manage to grab one have described how absurd it feels to play Tetris on an object that looks exactly like an energy drink container. That sense of “this shouldn’t exist, but it does” is a big reason the Red Bull Tetris handheld is now getting more attention—especially after the limited supply dried up.
The Red Bull and Tetris partnership didn’t start in Dubai, either. Earlier in 2025, online qualifying matches were open worldwide, giving players a chance to compete leading up to the finale. Those matches included power-ups and special effects that weren’t part of classic Tetris, helping the competition feel more modern and event-like. The tournament ultimately culminated in the Dubai finale, where the world’s top Tetris player was crowned.
Ironically, despite the scale of the event, Red Bull and its partners didn’t heavily promote the limited-edition handheld itself. That lack of marketing, combined with the tiny production run and the fast sell-out, is exactly what fuels collector demand now.
If you missed the original €34.99 drop, the only real option left is tracking one down through aftermarket listings. It’s unquestionably a strange collectible—but that’s the charm. For fans of retro handhelds, Tetris memorabilia, or limited-edition gaming merchandise, the Red Bull Tetris can has quickly become one of those rare releases people wish they’d noticed sooner.
