PlayStation Unveils Saros-Inspired Photochromic Glasses That Adapt to Changing Light

PlayStation is bringing the world of Saros into real life with a stylish new accessory designed for PS5 fans and fashion lovers alike. Instead of launching a special edition console or controller to celebrate the game, Sony has partnered with Spanish fashion brand D.Franklin to release Saros-themed limited edition glasses—and they’re only available in select European countries.

Saros, a new first-party title for the PlayStation 5, launched on April 30. To mark the release, Sony Interactive Entertainment Spain teamed up with D.Franklin on a design that takes clear visual cues from the game’s atmosphere and themes. The look is inspired by the role of the sun and solar eclipses within Saros, giving the glasses a distinctive style that feels connected to the game rather than just featuring a logo.

What makes these Saros limited edition glasses especially interesting is their photochromic build paired with blue light protection. They’re designed to help reduce exposure to harmful blue light from screens, which can be useful for long gaming sessions or everyday computer use. They also react to lighting conditions by darkening when the environment gets brighter.

There’s a twist, though: it’s not only the lenses that change. Unlike many photochromic glasses that only adjust the tint of the lenses, this Saros edition also features a frame that shifts from transparent to gray depending on the light. That effect helps the glasses stand out as more than standard gaming-inspired eyewear, offering a more noticeable “transforming” look indoors versus outdoors.

D.Franklin also lists UV400 protection along with a Category 2 filter, aimed at providing clear vision in low-light situations while remaining practical whether you’re inside or outside.

Packaging and details also lean into the collector appeal. The glasses arrive in a special box, and the bundle includes a leather case featuring both PlayStation and D.Franklin branding. The Saros name is also inscribed on the temples, adding a subtle finish that fans of the game will recognize.

Pricing is set at €69.99. The glasses are available to pre-order exclusively through D.Franklin ahead of their release in Spain on May 10, with availability also confirmed for Croatia, Greece, Italy, and Portugal. For PlayStation fans in Europe looking for a limited edition Saros collectible that’s actually wearable every day, this is one of the more unique releases tied to the game so far.
