PlayStation Ports for BOKURA Pushed to Summer Launch

Kodansha Games and developer Tokoronyori have announced a delay for the release of BOKURA on PlayStation consoles. Originally slated for April, players will now have to wait until summer 2025 to explore this intriguing world on the PlayStation Store. Though the wait might be disappointing for some, it should be worth it, as BOKURA has already made waves with its releases on Windows PC, iOS, Android, and the Nintendo Switch.

BOKURA is a unique puzzle-adventure game that stands out with its “2-player only” mechanic, offering a unique perspective on cooperative gameplay. Players must team up and embark on this adventure using two separate devices. What makes BOKURA truly fascinating is the way it challenges players to navigate differing perspectives—each person experiences the game world differently. For instance, one might see a whimsical storybook character, while the other perceives a mechanical robot. These distinctive viewpoints affect how objects interact within each player’s universe, adding layers of complexity to the puzzles.

Communication is key, as players must describe and share their unique viewpoints to solve the riddles and continue the game. Online play is encouraged so that players can converse and collaborate from afar. With the side-scrolling puzzle adventure format, the game also integrates pivotal choices that influence the story’s direction, offering multiple possible outcomes.

The story centers around two boys who have run away from home and stumble upon a “dead deer” during their journey. This encounter alters their perception, casting one into a world of animals and the other into a realm of machines. Together, they must unravel the mystery of their altered realities to return to their original world.

BOKURA demands cooperation more than most games. Two players must team up, as there is no solo or CPU option. The adventure typically takes 3 to 4 hours, during which time players engage in dynamic discussions, resolve differences in their perceptions, tackle challenges, and make crucial decisions together.

It’s an exciting premise that promises to redefine cooperative play, and the anticipation for its PlayStation release continues to build.
