PlayStation 5 Beta Update Brings Enhanced Audio and Noise Cancellation

Sony’s PlayStation 5 is set to receive a significant beta firmware update which is currently rolling out to select users in various countries including Canada, Japan, Germany, France, the US, and the UK. This update introduces improvements to noise cancellation, DualSense controller speaker audio, and visual interactivity in Share Screen sessions.

Sony has invited a handful of PlayStation 5 owners from these markets to try out the latest firmware enhancements that center on the console’s audio capabilities and user interface experience. The main audio enhancements include increased controller speaker volume and improved sound input quality, courtesy of a new AI-based machine learning model.

Alongside the audio adjustments, an interactive element has also been added to the Share Screen feature. This allows users to now use pointers and emojis during full-screen mode to engage with the host’s gameplay. This intuitive interaction is automatically enabled, but hosts have the flexibility to disable it if they choose. Participants must be on the same beta firmware to use this feature at present.

Additionally, the update provides customization options for the console’s hardware, such as the ability to adjust the brightness settings of the PlayStation 5’s power indicator. Users can select from three brightness levels – dim, medium, and bright (the standard setting). To change this setting, users can navigate through Settings, then System, followed by Beep and Light, and finally Brightness.

This beta firmware update is currently in its trial phase, with the wider PlayStation 5 community expecting these features to become universally available once testing phases are completed and feedback has been integrated. With these enhancements, Sony continues to refine the PlayStation 5 user experience, catering to the community’s preferences for better interactivity and sustained innovation in console functionality.
